Remembering Pearl Harbor

Today marks the 71st. anniversary of the Attack On Pearl Harbor by the Japanese Imperial Navy, decisively pulling the US solidly into World War II.  I know it's the Christmas season, but this is an important December remembrance in my own family and wanted to take this Friday (since it does fall on a Friday) to mark the sober and very scary occasion.  Featuring all manner of films and documentaries focusing on the Pacific Theater today and tonight, starting off with some episodes of HBO's The Pacific.  War is really hell and about as scary as it gets!  This kind of "bookends" the Second World War for this blog this year; as back at the first of the year, we spent a day focusing on the war in Europe on Holocaust Remembrance Day.  This is dedicated to two of my uncles, both of whom served in the Navy in the Pacific, and both of whom are still alive.  One of them served in the naval battle of Guadalcanal in the Solomon's.  Also in remembrance of my later grandfather in law, who also served.
