The Christmas Moments

I couldn't live blog one of my favorite Friday Frights of the year this past Friday due to an Internet outage caused by the provider....so they definitely rained on my holiday after party!!  Here are a few of the fun Christmas moments.

The Neilsen telegram:  "Will arrest Santa Claus and Snow White if you demand it..."

Well, of course, she has her Christmas moment out with the police detective protecting her...shopping!

A note from me:  the above clip comes from company that I find annoying--as they post "movies" to You Tube like they are the full length, when really, it's all about trying to get people to rent the damn thing from them online (and note:  this movie is in the public domain).  But I'm way too busy right now to post these movies myself and this was all I could find representing the film---couldn't even find a trailer!  It's a shame, I love Blackploitation films of the 1970's and this has, if you can believe it or not a crazy version of "Pop Goes The Weasel"!

The Christmas moment comes in the end with a Christmas Day celebration at the rear of the real train, after the solving of the mysterious affair around what the hell the "Phantom Express" is....namely a big nasty hoax!!  Let that Xmas bubbly flow by all means!!

From the 1950's television remake of the popular radio show of the same name, the series starred the ruggedly handsome Brian Donlevy.  Here he finds himself high in the Alps, surrounded by strangers, anyone of which could be the enemy (or all of them???) and he just has to wax sarcastic!  "The whole place looks like Christmas; but I've got a strong hunch that whoever I find there, it won't be Santa Claus."

While this horror anthology is not considered to be all that good by "professional critics"--it does have the great Vincent in one of his last horror roles--and a pretty comedic one at that (by god he acts rings and rings around the younger woman who is interviewing his character on the history of local loco village!)--it has at a least one killer Christmas moment, for real.

Stanley at his finest! (Clu Gulager)

From the first story in the installment:

Eileen to brother Stanley:  Christmas is getting so close, we should do something nice in Daddy's memory, he died on Christmas Stanley....Perhaps a Christmas tree draped in black.  (My note:  that seriously is my kind of Christmas tree--I really used to have one in my room when I was a teenager--had my own black satin tree skirt and everything!)

Well needless to say, Stanley didn't take this so well...his response:  commence to drowning his crazy ass sister in the ice bath he's prepared at her request!  Seems reasonable!

There is even a New Year moment as well.  During the segment set during the Civil War, a group of Union soldiers find themselves at the mercy of some Southern orphans, who live by the tenets of the "The Magistrate," the one soldier who manages to escape, after killing a little girl to get free, finds out just what he has gotten himself into when he witnesses the beating of the mere torso of one of his co patriots, sans head, feet and arms, hung from a tree.  These little kids are beating on this corpse with the zealousness of a birthday party pinata...because, hey it's NEW YEAR!!  So here's to it!!

Happy New Year!  We're still in the Vincentennial!
