Night Of The Seagulls (1975)

This is even more a strange blend of Christian/Satanism/Pagan than even The Legacy is.  It is the last of the four part series by the late Spanish writer/director Armando de Ossorio of "The Blind Dead."  The first two of these films (the first one especially) can be rightly called horror masterpieces.  The last two:  The Ghost Galleon and this one are far from master works of horror, but they are really campy, which for me is fun.  None of these movies really have a plot, this one features a very loose theme of human sacrifices at night to the dead/undead horse borne Templars on a beach filled with seagulls, hence it's name.  It's a bit like some Italian director Lucio Fulci's lesser films, like House By The Cemetery, in that it was filmed in English in some parts, in in Spanish, dubbed into English in others.

Ostensibly these really, really mean dead chanting monks require the sacrifices to keep them from attacking the local village.  Why is anyone's guess.  Still all of these movies are genuine cult classics and this one, at least, doesn't have the added creaks and groans of a derelict galleon that the third one has!  Besides, if you are a horror movie fan, how can you pass up movies that come in a coffin shaped box??  My cat HATES these films!  She is actually the main reason to put them on in my house--she's more fun watch than the skeletal Templars. [She's currently glaring at me with her "you deserve death now!" stare.] Oh...did I mention the crabs???
