Kolchak And The Energy Eater

From one of my favorite one season television programs, "Kolchak:  The Night Stalker" was only on the air from the fall of 1974 through the spring of 1975.  It starred a favorite actor of mine Darren McGaven.  It was remade a few years ago, without any of the original charming humor, with Stuart Townsend--that didn't stay the air very long either.

The Energy Eater is supposedly based on a Native American "myth" that turns out to be all too real.  This spirit, called Matchemonedo, which is Illinick/Potatwatomie evil spirit, the equivalent to the devil (see more here), that is awakened by the building of a hospital.  Kolchak, the ever vigilant paranormal reporter, is hot on the trail and soon enlists the help of a very modern and very reluctant Native shaman to help get rid of the spirit.  Boy this really was back in the day!  Back when referencing "Indian high steel" workers in popular television was understood by audiences, my how times have changed!
